How To Clean A Coated Floor

Updated: May 26, 2023

So you've got yourself a brand-new concrete coating!

Congratulations!

Or maybe you haven't yet or you're getting an epoxy floor for some reason....

Either way, you're probably wondering, how do I clean this thing? After all you paid for this brand new floor, you'll want to keep it looking brand new for as long as possible I assume. Regardless of whatever floor coating you got, cleaning them is more or less the exact same method.

What Not To Do

So you got a nice new concrete coating on your floor. No matter what type of floor you got the basic idea is that there is some type of smooth surface covering the concrete now.

First thing you need to engrave into your brain about your new floor before anything else....NO BLEACH or any other acidic type of cleaner. These solvents destroy the molecules within the topcoat, will bleach the flakes or color underneath, and will require a lot of work to fix.

So here's what you do instead

Step 1: Sweep or blow debris off the floor

Step 2: Put dish detergent, Simple Green or some other simple cleaner, and water in a bucket

Step 3: Mop or use a bristle broom across the floor

Step 4: Remove excess water off the floor with either a squeegee or dry mop

It's that simple!
